Origin
and came into being of the Integrated Development Initiatives Development IDI Chittagong
Hill Tracts is a part of Chittagong division situated at the south -east part
of Bangladesh and comprises of three Hill Districts namely Rangamati, Bandarban
and Khagrachari, which are hilly, remote and inhibited by mostly indigenous
people. This region is distinct from other parts of Bangladesh in terms of languages,
religion, tradition, social customs and norms; land and its structure. It is
resourceful with its natural beauty but the situation is worse than that of
other parts of Bangladesh .
The rural disadvantaged community people of CHT have little access to income
and resources to meet their basic needs.
The Integrated Development Initiatives Development
organization was established by some enthusiastic like minded young volunteers in1995 with a vision for economic empowerment
of the disadvantaged community peoples who are socially and economically
discriminated and neglected in the society. The IDI is a word of working on
development together. IDI is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non government
voluntary development organization. The organization strongly believes that
people are resourceful and can tape resources if they are empowered that is,
empower to think, empower to articulate and empower to organize and through
empowering, they will be able to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty and
underdevelopment.
